We’re looking for neighborhood ready to get their hands dirty

You know that weedy vacant lot everyone walks past? The one that’s been sitting there collecting trash and sad looks for years? Picture it suddenly becoming the place where kids spot their first red cardinal and summer heat feels just a little more bearable. That’s exactly what we want to help your neighborhood create.

Here’s the vision

A single day when your whole neighborhood comes together to plant native Texas trees, shrubs, and wildflowers. Picture families working side-by-side, kids getting their hands dirty, and everyone sharing snacks while creating something that will grow and change for decades.

Within three years, you’ll have a self-sustaining pocket forest that cools your neighborhood by up to 9°F, soaks up stormwater, attracts wildlife, and becomes a source of neighborhood pride.

What we’re looking for

  • A lot roughly 1,000-5,000 square feet (about 6-30 parking spaces)
  • A neighborhood excited about the idea and ready to get involved
  • Community support for maintaining the forest during its first three years

What we bring

  • All the planning, design, and technical expertise
  • Native plants, tools, and materials
  • Ongoing support and maintenance training

The real talk

We’re building this vision from the ground up and are currently securing funding through crowdfunding and community partnerships. Your forest will most likely happen next year, giving us time to plan thoughtfully and build the support that makes these projects truly successful.

This isn’t just about environmental benefits—it’s about proving that neighbors working together can transform their community. It’s about creating something beautiful where there was nothing before.

Ready to start the conversation?

If your neighborhood has a space that could use transformation and a community ready to roll up their sleeves, let’s chat. We’d be happy to attend a meeting, walk through potential sites, or just talk about possibilities.

Because the best neighborhoods aren’t just places where people live—they’re places where people create something together.

Contact us at hello@rewilddfw.org or through our website.

P.S. We’re starting with just a few neighborhoods this year to build our first projects, so if this sounds interesting, don’t wait too long to reach out.
